Michael McLoughlin is a visual artist based in Dublin, Ireland. Working in a wide variety of media including drawing, photography, sculpture and sound, a lot of his work work revolves around ownership of idea, space, the exploration of shared histories and the reinterpretation of narratives through a variety of artistic lanuages.

Michael has been Youth Arts Worker with dlr’s Youth Arts Programme since 2009. Since that time he has worked with young artists and musicians from all over the county on creative projects. He has worked with CANVAS, Youth Arts Committee in the Grainstore, since their formation in Aug’09, on various music, visual art, film soundtrack and even gaming projects.

He also works with Youth Services and schools, advocating a very much youth led approach to practice and developing projects with and for youth people. During the last four years Michael has seen a huge increase in the art projects young people have been developing, particular projects they have instigated themselves aand has been in the piviledged position of been able to support, mentor, assist and collaborate on some of these projects. This blog charts some current activities and thought around some of the stepping stones that led to them.
